The Canadian Mental Health Association of Vernon and District is fortunate to have a team of committee members who are passionate about Mental Health and breaking down the stigma for those who have experienced mental illness. Each year these individuals have worked very hard at helping us to make Ride Don’t Hide a tremendous success.
This year we are proud to present the third annual Mixing it Up for Mental Health which is taking place on Saturday evening, April 22nd, 2017 at the beautiful Durali Villa. This event will take place just before Mental Health Week (May 1-7th ) so will serve as a great kickoff event as well as help launch the awareness campaign for Ride Don’t Hide 2017.
Mixing it Up for Mental Health will be an evening to enjoy the company of others, local entertainment, beverages and appetizers while supporting an important cause through the opportunity to bid on silent auction items.
All funds raised will support the continuation of our youth program, Super Saturday.
Super Saturday is an early intervention, prevention based program, provided at no cost for children aged 7-12 years old that have a parent or caregiver living with a mental illness. The Super Saturday group meets once a month for a fun filled day of recreation and social activities with a healthy lunch and snacks provided. The majority of the activities are based in the community and include playing and learning from interactive games, swimming, arts and crafts, board games and various outdoor activities. The nature of the community based program promotes connection and engagement and offers the opportunity to establish lasting friendships with peers. This is a day that all family members look forward to and for many of the parents this is their only opportunity for a day of personal wellness.
