With 1 in 5 Canadians needing help for a mental illness each year, mental illness is both a community issue and a business issue. Unfortunately, as shown by a Canadian survey in 2000, the stigma associated with mental illness prevented nearly half of these individuals from getting help. With education and understanding, we will change this.

Mental Health Works
Did you know... Disability represents anywhere from 4-12% of payroll costs in Canada, and that mental health claims (especially depression) are the fastest growing category of disability costs in Canada?
Mental Health Works is a course designed to meet the needs of businesses and workplaces dealing with mental health issues. This full-day award-winning workshop enables managers to:
- discuss mental health issues with employees.
- deal effectively with performance issues.
- avoid discrimination and human rights violations.
- develop accommodation strategies that work.
Addressing mental health issues in the workplace is a win-win proposition for employers and employees alike. With early detection and appropriate accommodation at work, the vast majority of people are able to continue working effectively or return to work after an absence caused by mental illness.
