Community Education and Services

At CMHA Vernon, we strive to serve not only individuals coping with mental illnesses, but also the broader community.  Our primary focus is providing high-quality education and information about mental health.  Towards that end, we facilitate two courses:

Beyond education, we offer our facility for rental and affordable clothing through our thrift store, the Georgette Shoppe.

Since 1959, the CMHA Vernon Branch has been promoting mental wellness in the community of Vernon.  By working in partnership, we can help individuals, groups, and communities increase control over and enhance their mental health.

help stop stigma

The stigma associated with mental illnesses, prevents nearly half of sufferers from getting help, according to a Canadian survey from the early nineties (HereToHelp).  The more individuals and communities seek out good information instead of accepting stereotypes, the more hope for recovery and a mentally healthier community.
